John Irving

 |
 |
John Irving is an American novelist born in Exeter, New Hampshire in 1942.
The popular success of "The World According To Garp" in 1978 (and the 1982
movie of the same name, starring Robin Williams) brought Irving to prominence,
and he's remained one of the world's best-loved writers since.
His novels feature a potent mix of social satire and comedy, with sharply-drawn
characters caught up in very real (though often delightfully absurd) situations.
Garp was one of the first books that really moved me both emotionally and
intellectually, and I've been a fan ever since. Irving's work never fails
to challenge, delight, and really make the reader feel.
